PSA FAQ: turnaround, insurance and prices
Short, concrete answers to what people ask most before sending cards to PSA: how long grading takes, how insurance is calculated, value limits and price rounding. See current prices and open service levels on the PSA page.
What is PSA grading?+
PSA first authenticates the card, then assesses its condition on a 10-point scale and seals it in a labelled slab. The assessment considers factors including centring, corners, edges and surface.
Can I submit to PSA from Denmark or Europe?+
Yes. You send the cards to Slabbed in Denmark and we manage the rest of the submission. The service is available to collectors in Denmark and across Europe.
What changed with PSA Europe?+
PSA has opened its first full-scale grading facility in continental Europe in Frankfurt, allowing more European cards to be processed locally. The rollout is phased, so the PSA facility and route used can depend on the service level and submission channel.
How does PSA grading through Slabbed work?+
You create the submission online, choose a service level and declared value, then send the cards to us in Denmark. We document receipt, check the details, prepare the batch and manage transport to and from the PSA facility used for that batch. You follow the status in your account and receive the cards back from Slabbed.
How long does PSA grading take?+
Standard: 70-80 business days; Priority: 50-60 business days; Express: 25-30 business days; Super Express: 25-30 business days; Premier: 25-30 business days; Premium 1: 25-30 business days. These are estimates, not guarantees. Slabbed handling and transport are additional.
When does PSA's turnaround start?+
Turnaround is counted in business days from the moment the order enters PSA's grading system. It does not start when you ship the package to us: transport to Slabbed, our checks and preparation, and transport to PSA sit outside it. You can follow the process in your account.
Can I choose a faster PSA turnaround?+
Yes. See the current turnaround estimate for each open tier on the PSA page. The price and declared-value limit rise with the service level. Pick the level in the submission to see the price immediately. Value Launch Offer is currently €36.74 per card, Standard €62.99 and Express €208.95.
How does the insurance work?+
Insurance is mandatory: €2.68 incl. applicable VAT per started €135 of actual declared value, added to the grading price. Paid submission insurance covers the cards from when we receive them until they are returned to you. Your own shipment to us is not covered. Why do you round prices up?+
Most Danish prices, including VAT, are rounded up to the nearest 10 kr., both per card and on line items like insurance and return shipping. Value Launch Offer is rounded up to the nearest 50 kr., and the four other cheapest PSA levels (Value, Standard Launch Offer, Standard and Priority Launch Offer) to the nearest 100 kr. That way the sums add up in the submission, the cart and at payment, with no cent amounts: the price you see is the price you pay. On Slabbed.eu prices are shown in euros with two decimals instead.
Is the price rounded more than once?+
No. Every amount is rounded up once, to the nearest 10 kr. or 100 kr. on the cheapest PSA levels, and the total is exactly the sum of the lines shown. The payment page therefore never shows a higher amount than the one in the submission and the cart.
Is there a volume discount on PSA?+
No. Unlike BGS and CGC, PSA carries no volume discount with us. PSA's price follows the card's declared value per card, so the price per card is the same whether you send one card or fifty. Return shipping is only charged once, though, when several submissions travel together at the same service level.
What do the limited time PSA prices mean?+
Value Launch Offer, Standard Launch Offer and Priority Launch Offer are limited time introductory prices that we currently offer below Value, Standard and Priority. Turnaround and value limits are the same as the matching standard levels. If PSA changes its prices, ours follow, and the price table on the PSA page always shows the current ones.
What happens if PSA closes for submissions?+
If PSA temporarily closes for new submissions, we keep the cards securely until PSA reopens. If the price rises, a surcharge matching the increase may apply, and we contact you first.
What does PSA 10 Gem Mint mean?+
PSA 10 (Gem Mint) is PSA's highest grade, described in its standards as virtually perfect. PSA assesses corners, edges, surface and centring, and allows limited tolerances. No pre-review guarantees a PSA 10 or a higher resale price. PSA uses half grades from 1.5 to 8.5, with no PSA 9.5.
PSA's official grading standards describe the grade requirements. PSA always decides the final grade.
